These are my notes on the life of Syzygy, Sorcerer, which I have prepared for her Ladyship of the Forge, great maybe her vault.
Very little is known of Syzygy. We are filing this under, “the less you know, the better.”
The pataphysical magic of Syzygy was based on alignment. One thing is one thing. One thing next to another thing are two things, but exactly what two things is always a matter of interpretation when it came to Syzygy.
For example, Theshla was Blue Dragon.
For most people, this meant a horrible death by lightening.
For Syzygy, this meant a dull afternoon watching his generals, Mister Fantasy and Mister Soul, hack Theshla to bits because Theshla was too depressed to defend himself. In the end, Theshla welcomed the end as respite from the ennui of being.
Syzygy was the surprise in the conjunction of the aligned. That is, the ‘pataphysical properties of things, when arranged in certain ways, could produce for Syzygy a surprisingly different reality.
There were many, many surprises when Syzygy was around. Most of these surprises were about as welcome and a surprise party or a surprise inspection.
In the Aftermath, the biggest surprise Syzygy left behind was the unpredictable chaos of Unpronounceable.
